Now that you know (and for those who knew), there’s a couple shows we’re playing as Hometown Heroes’ for our last hoorah. For Chicago area kids, our last home show will be at Centennial Lanes on July 5th.

For you Milwaukee area kids, we will be in your neck of the woods on July 6th. The venue is still up in the air, but keep your calendars marked anyways.

Thanks, guys.

Today is a day that we never thought would come. We’re disheartened to announce that Hometown Heroes is going to be coming to an end. After a couple of years, eight different members and three EPs, we’ve decided, as a whole, that it was time to close this chapter of our lives. We want to thank everybody who made our time in this band possible. Anyone who ever came to a show, hung out at a practice, bought a shirt or grabbed our music and passed it on, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

There are a few reasons that we’re putting this band to rest, but more than anything else, it comes down to the scene we’re playing in. This environment is toxic to original music. Promoters across the country are caring less and less for the well-being of touring bands. We’ve pushed hard for a couple years. We’ve worked our asses off. We’ve gone through tours having no money to put gas in the tank, let alone to put food in our stomach. We’ve written music that we care deeply for, but at the end of the day, there wasn’t any room for us in that clique of cool bands. So, it’s time to take a break.

We don’t want anyone to think that this is the end for the five boys you’ve come to know. We’re still going to be working on music together, but it won’t be in this form. Not too much is going to change, it’ll still be the same guys making the best music we can.  All that has ever mattered was making the best music we could, and sharing it with all of you.
So, we are playing a couple farewell shows to give everyone a last chance to sing along. More details on those will come in the next couple days, so stay posted and we will get all of the information up here as soon as we can.

Thank you all for the times we shared in basements, venues, skate parks, houses and bowling alleys. Thank you for giving a shit about a band that you never heard before. Thank you for letting us share our passion with you. Most of all, thank you for listening. That’s all we’ve ever wanted. If you can make it to one of our farewell shows, come cry with us, because this is the end of an era, and the start of something new. We hope to see you all soon.

-Hometown Heroes
Hometown Heroes - Chicago Pop Punk/Indie
We were born in the basements of suburban Chicago, playing hard hitting songs to a few friends. Touring since early 2013, we’ve preformed in every nook and cranny of America. Our music is a culmination of the songs we grew up pretending to play in mirrors and the amazing experiences we’ve had in our time on the road.
We’ve run out of gas in the Mojave, we’ve hugged new friends on the beaches on The Atlantic, we’ve gotten wicked drunk in old’s friend’s backyards in Jersey, we’ve played to a bar of two half-drunk, unamused bikers and we’re going to keep playing until you get sick of us.
Every single time someone listens to our songs, it gives us hope for our future. We wholeheartedly thank the people who’ve supported us from the beginning, no matter how untrendy we were/currently are. You’re the reason we keep going.
You can download our new single “Closure" for free at our website.

This is our new single, Closure. We can’t begin to tell you how proud we are of this song. This track is the culmination of all of the touring, writing and work we’ve done over the past couple years. If you have a couple minutes, take a listen. You won’t regret it.

Sometimes you don’t get the recognition you think you deserve, then you get the fuck over it, get better and keep going.

TONIGHT

TONIGHT

godeepny:

My van was stolen yesterday in Chicago with everything Danny and I own in it, along with 4 friends’ guitars/personal items/passports. We’ve been away from home for nearly 6 months. Touring from New York to Florida, then out to LA. Stayed in LA for 3 months to write and record a full length while living in the van. And then planned to tour back through Canada finishing in NY.

We got through Canada but lost everything yesterday in Chicago. The window was smashed out, and the van was taken in broad day light near Wicker Park. Total of somewhere near $25k worth of amps, guitars, recording equipment, and personal belongings. We don’t have any type of insurance that will cover any of these losses. I’m going to try to update photos of all of the gear…I’ll post what would be most noticeable if it popped up somewhere around Chicago or anywhere.

Also, Some people have reached out wanting to donate. It’s truly amazing how supportive friends have been. If you want to help out at all there is a paypal at godeepny@gmail.com

Most of the gear, including the van, I bought from sleeping on my floor for 6 months while renting my room on airbnb and working full time at a Japanese restaurant.  Danny incurred about 10k in debt buying recording equipment to finish the Mason Avery (His other project) record over the past 6 years that is now lost, as the four copies of mixes are on harddrives/computers/laptops in the van. Luckily, the Go Deep record is backed up in LA. We are feeling generally sick after pushing so hard to make music happen in our lives. If you want to help out, hit us on the paypal. Everything helps, and it will go directly to getting us back to being touring musicians.

If you have any questions regarding anything or have any leads, email me at kris.kneale@gmail.com or get me on facebook. I’m gonna go buy a sweater now. It was cold last night.
